Named for Betsy Lawer's husband and father who both played rugby growing up (a Hooker is a position on the team), the Lawer Family Wines' Hooker brand includes just a few select bottlings of very limited production, premium wines. The Hooker 2007 Chardonnay hails from the Oakville district of Napa Valley, and shows off the alluring aromas and flavors that makes these Chardonnay grapes so desirable. Pale golden yellow in color, this 2007 Chardonnay's aromas of toasty lemon cake, crème brulee, apple, vanilla, and dried flowers lead into layered tangy flavors of fig, pear, melon and apricot with hints of ripe pineapple and cherry. A nutty complexity adds another another dimension and superbly balances with the crisp, refreshing, spicy-buttercream accented finish. Truly a unique Chardonnay, bursting with flavor an promising to be a crowd favorite! The wine industry press agrees, naming the Hooker 2007 Chardonnay the Best North American White at the 2009 Vino Challenge. This wonderful wine also garnered a Gold Medal at the Los Angeles International Wine Competition, a Gold Medal at the Sommelier Challenge International Wine Competition, and a Gold Medal at the Vino Challenge International Wine Competition.
